The Letter Q

We had a full Monday back in Room 2.  We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition. After morning activities, we read "My 'Q' Book" and brainstormed some "Q" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on correct "q" letter formation, writing question sentences, and using crayons, glue, and Q-Tips to make the tactile page "Q-Tips on 'Q's on a Quilt." My groups read "Can Tam See?" and finished decorating one of our secret projects. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we learned the poem "Jack Be Nimble," did some rhyming, and had math. We used counters to act out subtraction problems.

After lunch, we reviewed our new sight words for the week, worked on beginning, middle, and ending word sounds, and discussed food. We read "Our Special Sweet Potato Pie" and talked about how food sometimes brings families together. We also introduced the five food groups. We used the My Plate template and came up with examples of fruits, grains, dairy, vegetables, and proteins. Students colored in a sample plate, too. We will come up with balanced meal ideas later in the week.  We had P.E. on the big yard before practicing our holiday songs. We ended the day having art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. They let everyne have free draw while wrapping up some unfinished projects. Then we passed out homework folders and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework for the week. Our holiday party is this Thursday at 1:00 P.M. Also, Friday is a 12:35 Minimum Day. Be sure to make arrangements to pick up your child at that time. Thanks!
