Holiday Party

We had a fun day today in Room 2.  We began our Thursday with Nutrition and our regular morning activities. We read "Get Well Santa" and "Q is for Quail" next. At language arts rotations, students worked on "Q" phonics and sentences. My groups finished up holiday cards. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we recited "Jack Be Nimble," reviewed our sight words, and packed up our holiday gift bags for tomorrow. We also walked over to Room 19 to drop off pictures and cards for our forth and fifth grade reading buddies.

After lunch, we discussed the five food groups and listed examples of each. Then students created their own balanced meal with items from each food groups. We did a great job!  At 1:00, it was time for our holiday party. We got to ice and decorate "gingerbread" houses! Fortunately, we had a lot of parents there to help. Students used candies, cookies, licorice, marshmallows, cereal, and more to make their "icy" creations. They look fantastic!  Next, we sang our three holiday songs: "On This Night," "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer." Again, the class did a wonderful job! We ended the party with cake and juice to celebrate Jacob's birthday.  Then we packed up and headed for home. I hope everyone had a fun time! Thank you to all of our room parents and volunteers that planned and prepped our activities! We appreciate all of your hard work!

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow! Also, tomorrow is a 12:35 dismissal day.
