The Letter P and the Book Fair

We had a fun and easy Monday back in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition. After our morning activities, we read "My 'P' Book" and brainstormed "P" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "P" handwriting and on using crayons, glue, and popcorn on the tactile page "Popcorn on 'P's on a Pumpkin."  My groups took the Topic 7 math test and made a top secret gift. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the auditorium for a holiday show. Mrs. Caruso's third grade class performed "The Grinch." The class really enjoyed it!

After lunch, we shared Ethnicity Dolls. They aren't due until tomorrow, but several students brought them in early, so it made sense to start sharing. Baeman, Caleb, Dashiell, Dylan, Jacob, Leland, Nathan, and Stella all presented to the class. They all did a great job! We will share more tomorrow and Wednesday. After a little free time, we introduced Kayla as our Star of the Week. She shared her amazing poster, which is shaped like a Christmas tree. She also took questions and comments from the class. When we were done, we went to the Book Fair. Third Street is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in the library all week long. You can shop for books (and raise money for the school) before, during, and after school between now and Friday. The class got a chance to walk around, browse titles, and get a closer look at the books they like. To end the day, we had art. Ms. Maria and Miss Karla had students finish up our California palm tree project and make a label for another secret holiday gift. Then we packed up, passed out homework folders, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework for the week. The main events to remember are that Ethnicity Dolls are due tomorrow, and the Book Fair is all week in the library.
