Candy Canes and Kwanzaa

We had a nice Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition inside because it had rained last night. After morning activities we read "Hurry Santa!" At language arts rotations, we made very cool patterned candy cane ornaments. My groups worked on a holiday card. The other groups had secret centers. After recess outside, we recited "Jack Be Nimble," did some rhyming, and had math. We worked on finding differences. We also practiced using the minus sign and the equals sign.

After lunch, we read "Seven Days of Kwanzaa" and learned about the Kwanzaa holiday. Then we worked on patterning Kwanzaa festival items.  We also rehearsed our three holiday songs one more time.  After a quick afternoon snack/recess, we went to the big yard for P.E. Coach Angel taught the class how to play "Flag Battles." It was fun!  We ended the day in the library, where Mrs. Singh read us "It's Christmas, David!" and "Shadow."  Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget that tomorrow is our holiday party! The party starts at 1:00 with "gingerbread" houses, followed by our performance around 1:45. We will end the party with treats. We hope to see you there!
