More Rain, More With Short O, More Science

We had another rainy day in Room 2. We began Wednesday in the class with Nutrition.  After our morning activities, we read "Todd's Odd Day." At language arts rotations, students worked to read "short o" words,  match them to pictures, and write sentences without using the word "I." We're really getting it! My groups worked on some (secret) holiday projects and did some letter and sound testing. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After indoor recess, we recited "Old Woman in a Shoe," shared Kaia's Ethnicity Doll, and had math. We worked on reading and writing addition sentences.

After lunch outside, we watched "The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm" with Mrs. Lee's class. It was about rain. Then we practiced our sight words and holiday songs and had science. We finished up our unit on the Earth by reviewing what cover the outside of the Earth and what the inside of the Earth looks like. Then we used clay to make a model showing the layers of the Earth. It was fun rolling and playing with clay. Plus, it was a great reminder of where the crust, mantle, and core are inside the Earth. Hopefully, your child's little Earth made it home for you to see!  For Star of the Week, Leland shared her favorite book, "Ramona the Pest." It was a little more challenging to follow because it's a chapter book, but the class still liked it. Coach Angel came to Room 2 for P.E. where we did frog jumps, rings toss, and beanbag toss inside. We ended the day in the library, where Mrs. Singh read us "Arthur's Lost Puppy" and "How Do Dinosaurs Say Merry Christmas?" Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
