Fun Friday!

We had a  fun Friday today in Room 2!  After collecting homework folders and taking care of our  morning business, we read the story "At Home with Mole and Toad," which highlights the "long o" sound. We used this knowledge to help us at language arts rotations when we had a "long o" cut and paste sheet. At my table, we read "I Am a Doctor" and finished up letters to Emerson, our Star of the Week. The other two groups started our new secret centers. They are: gluing a candy cane pattern at the art center, playing Penelope Rose at the computer center, addition practice at the math center, playing with blocks and puzzles at the play center, and writing holiday words and sentences at the writing center. After snack and recess, we recited "Old Woman in a Shoe" and had math. We reviewed Topic 7: Exploring Addition and found sums to 8.

Samara's mother and father came and brought a pizza lunch for everyone to celebrate her birthday. The class enjoyed it a lot! After lunch, we read quick story and had art with Ms. Maria and Ms. Karla. We finished up our secret holiday projects with them and had free draw. For Star of the Week, Emerson had us estimate  peanut M&Ms. There were  40.  Finn made the best estimate of exactly 40.  At P.E. we had practiced our bouncing and passing. Then we had two races!  When we got back,  Samara's mom and dad returned to give everyone a cupcake treat after we sang "Happy Birthday." Then we packed up our Friday Folders, passed out green certificates, and lined up for home. Samara even passed out goody bags on our way out. What a fun day!

Have a great weekend!  Don't forget to finish our Ethnicity Doll projects. They're due on Wednesday, December 11th.
