Recycled Pizza

Another fast Friday in Room 2. We started our day by collecting homework packets. Then we read "Autumn's First Leaf" after calendar and morning business. For language arts centers, students had two independent activities. They matched a leaf to its tree and then made a picture using real leaves.  It was a little messy, but fun!  My groups wrote letters to Aiden, our Star of the Week, and read "We Can See!" Other groups had secret centers.  After snack and recess, we had math. We looked at a number chart and discussed the patterns on it going across and down.  Then we counted to 100 and filled in missing numbers on a hundred chart.

After lunch, we read the story "Why Do Leaves Change Color" while Ms. Maria set up for art.  Then we worked on a project that she started back in 1982 at the Children's Museum called "Recycled Pizza." Students used clean recycled objects and other unused items to create their own "pizza" in a box. They looked really cool when they were done. Hopefully they made it home in one piece!  Students also got to have free draw with markers when they were done. Some even made books!  After that, we had Star of the Week. Aiden had us estimate Legos. There were 21 of them.  Lily got it exactly!  We had recess on the big yard because there wasn't any room for our game. When we came back we read our letters to Aiden and had a partner project to end the day. Then we packed up out Friday Folders and passed out green certificates for the week.

Have a wonderful weekend.  See you on Monday!
