Layers of the Earth

A busy day today in Room 2!  We started with morning business. Then we read "Turkey Gobble" and "N is for Newt." For language arts centers, we completed an "N" phonics page  and wrote sentences on the back. At my table, two groups made a thankful Thanksgiving turkey. The other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited our poem "Little Nut Tree" and had math. We worked on recognizing and writing a plus sign. We also made some equal signs and added numbers.

After lunch, we did a lot!  We started by reading "The Earth," reviewing what covers the Earth (land, water, and air), and then learning about the layers of the Earth. We discussed the three layers (crust, mantle, core) and described what each was made of. Then we colored and labeled a page to go with it. We will continue this topic next week. For Star of the Week, Callum shared the book "David Goes to School." Then we went to music. Ms. Ingram, had us sing some winter songs, dance, and move. We even did a freeze dance at the end!  For P.E. Coach Angel had us do a hoops challenge. Students practiced shooting baskets on a low, medium, and high basketball hoop. They did pretty well!  Finally, we went to the library. Mr. K read us "The Three Billy Goats Gruff."  When we got back to the room, we packed up and headed for home.  See you tomorrow!
