Art, Popcorn, and Finn's Birthday

A fun and fast end of the week in Room 2. After collecting homework and morning business, we read "It's Thanksgiving Day!"  At language arts centers, students made a Native American tipi. At my table, we read "We Like Sam" and wrote letters to Callum, our Star of the Week. Other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Little Nut Tree" and shared Ryker's PTA Reflections project. Then we had math. We did more addition practice, with sums of 5 and 6.

After lunch, we had Art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. Students finished up their Thanksgiving gifts, which they brought home today (enjoy!) and started part one of a winter holiday surprise. For Star of the Week, Callum had us estimate cars. No one got the number exactly, but Ava and Yetunde were just one away from the correct answer of 14 cars. We earned a popcorn party this week, so we watched a Magic School Bus show on stars and ate some buttery popcorn. After packing up, we ended the day by celebrating Finn's birthday. His mom and dad brought cupcakes and goody bags for the class to enjoy. Then we passed our green certificates and lined up for home.

Have a great weekend AND a great Thanksgiving week off from school. We'll see you back at Third Street on Monday, December 2nd. Be sure to work on those Ethnicity Doll projects and read each day!
