The Letter X

We had a good Monday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. We read "My 'X, Y, Z' Book" and tried to brainstorm words that have an "x' in them. At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "X" handwriting and sentences, plus using a white crayon and watercolors to make the tactile page "X is for X-ray." My groups wrote final draft versions of their weather poems. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we learned our new sight words and recited our new poem of the week, "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep." We also tried to write all the numbers from 1 to 100 on a number chart.

After lunch, we had more math. We looked at objects that were lighter and heavier. We explored the room to find objects and compare their weight. We also used scales to compare objects, or find objects that weighed the same. For Star of the Week, we introduced Kyle. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. Then we spent P.E. on the big yard. When we got back, we had two small projects. We cut and stuffed our poem writing and pictures to make a puffy cloud and we planted seeds for our upcoming "plants" theme. We will monitor the seeds progress over the next two weeks. Then we packed up, passed out homework, read a short story, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to check over homework packets for the week. Three book orders are included. Return them by Friday if you're interested. 100 Day books went home today, too. We did a fantastic job!
