Hearts and Bears
We had a nice Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. After we took care of our morning activities, we read two stories: "Mouse's First Valentine" and "Sweet Hearts." At language arts rotations, students sewed a heart for Valentine's Day. They also (with the help of our awesome parent volunteers) put handprints on the heart. My groups read "Sit Tip!" and worked on Valentine's Day cards. The other groups had their first secret center of this rotation. They include: Drawing weather pictures at the art center, playing games at abcya.com at the computer center, "Snow Day" by Lynn Ploude at the listening center, bear addition practice at the math center, and using blocks, dinosaurs, and magni-tiles at the play center. After recess, we went to Room 21 to have music and play with Ms. Yuki's class.
After lunch, we reviewed our sight words and recited "Polly Put the Kettle On." We also read "Happy Birthday Moon!" and created a picture that included the bear from the story. For Star of the Week, Jayden had the class estimate cars. The class made estimations between 12 and 99. There were 15 cars. The best guess was 15 by Mr. Ricker! After we had some P.E. on the big yard, we had a little experiment with animal capsules. We added hot water to the capsules and they turned into animal shaped sponges. We also shared three more 100 Day Books. Then we packed up Friday Folders and passed out certificates for an all-green week. Have a great weekend!
Don't forget to finish those 100 Day Book projects! They're due on Tuesday!
