The Letter W
We had an easy Monday back in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders, having Nutrition, and taking care of our morning activities. Then we read "My 'W' Book" and brainstormed some words that star with "w." At language arts rotations, students worked on "W" handwriting and sentences, along with using crayons, glue, and gummy worms to make the tactile page "Worms on 'W's on a Window." My groups took the ELA informative writing assessment. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We introduced chapter 8 on Measurement. We also introduced some vocabulary and concepts we will learn about in the chapter. Our "Spring Emergency Drill" also took place during this time. It was in class and went just fine.
After lunch, we recited our new poem "Humpty Dumpty" and learned our new sight words for the week. Then we read "Let's Learn About...Rosa Parks" and discussed her accomplishments. We had a coloring page to go with it, too. For Star of the Week, we introduced Karma. She shared her amazing poster and took questions from the class. We had P.E. on the yard before ending the day with Mr. Abrams. He let the class try playing his violin. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!
Be sure to check over homework packets. There is a survey called "Homework for Parents Part 2" that I would like everyone to turn in by Friday. And if you haven't signed up for a conference, please do so this week. Thanks!
