Martin Luther King, Jr.

We had a good Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. After we read "I Am Snow," we had Writer's Workshop. There we finished up our true stories about Winter Break. Then we had snack and indoor recess. We had Computer Lab next because they had testing at our usual time. In the lab, we played LexiaCore5 games. When we got back, we read a picture book about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and had ELA Workshop. Students matched accomplishments and wrote a sentence about Dr. King. I pulled groups to write about winter in our kindergarten journals, and everyone visited a secret center.

After lunch, we recited "Little Miss Muffet," reviewed phonics skills and sight words, and introduced some poems for next Thursday. The kindergarten plans to recite three poems at the Pot Luck Celebration on Thursday, January 19th. At Music, the class learned another fun dance with Mrs. Hansen. For math, we reviewed the terms longer and shorter before searching for items longer and shorter than a piece of yarn with our group. In Spanish, we learned more about family with Sra. Colmenero. We finished our skillwork in math when we returned before packing up and celebrating Miles' birthday with his mom, dad, and brother. He even passed out goody bags to the class. Thank you Miles!

Be sure to finish up and check homework packets for tomorrow!
