Mole and the Baby Bird

We had a productive Wednesday in Room 203.  We began the day with our morning activities, HWT, and by reading "Todd's Odd Day." After Road to Reading, we read the story "Mole and the Baby Bird." Then we used the illustrations to retell the story. Most of the class is trying to write sentences independently using sight words, word charts, and their sounding out skills. Keep it up! After snack and recess, we had ELA Workshop. Students worked on reading "short O" words and matching them to the corresponding picture. My groups wrote some facts about penguins in their kindergarten journals. And we also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Old Woman in a Shoe," and had math. We reviewed longer, shorter, and the same as. We also had a  little time to play math games with a friend! For Star of the Week, Addison shared a favorite book. She read "Fancy Nancy: Poison Ivy Expert" to the class. We ended the day with Second Step. We talked about Calming Down Strong Feelings with Ms. J.C. and Mrs Z. We worked on using our three steps: Stop, Name Your Feeling, and Calm Down using belly breathing. It really works!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

Remember that homework packets are due tomorrow since we do not have school on Friday!
