A Penguin Story

We had a fun Tuesday in Room 203. We began the day by taking care of our morning activities. We also read "Olive the Octopus's Day of Juggling" and came up with more "short o" words. After HWT (Handwriting Without Tears) and Road to Reading, we read "A Penguin Story." We worked together to retell the story using the illustrations. We made sure to include the beginning, middle, and end of the story. After snack and recess, we had ELA Workshop. Students worked independently to draw, color and paint a penguin picture. They look great!  My groups read and matched "short o" words while I finished up some ELA assessments. We also visited another secret center. We even had time to read "Which One is Willy?" another story about a penguin.

After lunch, we reviewed our sight words of the week, recited "Old Woman in a Shoe," and looked for zero heroes because it is the 90th day of school. Then we went to all of our Tuesday specials. We visited Mr. Withers in the library to read a story and check out a book. We went to Spanish with Sra. Colmenero and talked more about family. And we had some basketball activities at P.E. with Mr. Simatic. We ended the day with Star of the Week. We reviewed what we know about Addison before she shared some cool toys, including her ukelele, Uno game, Cinderella doll, and camera. She even took a picture of the class with her camera. The class liked that a lot!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework and lined up for home.
