More With the Letter N and Penguins

We had a pretty good day in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. We also had time to read "The Nicest Newt" and brainstorm more words that begin with "N." After Road to Reading, we read "March of the Penguins" and tried to write what happened in the story using a given picture. We worked together, but it still took awhile to finish. After snack and recess, we read "Tacky the Penguin" and had ELA Workshop. Students worked independently to match words and pictures and write a sentence. My groups read "I Like, We Like" together and decorated a loud shirt for Tacky the Penguin. We will make penguin art tomorrow to put the "shirt" on. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we rehearsed our three songs for tomorrow's Pot Luck celebration. It looks like we will be in the front row!  For Star of the Week, we reviewed my poster. I also shared some of my favorite toys with the class, including a painting, a boomerang, cars, a toy shark, and a baseball. To end the day, we had Second Step with Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z. It was a booster week, so we watched a video on belly breathing and reviewed how to deal with strong emotions by stopping, stating how we feel, calming down, and then finding solutions to our problem. We did a great job!  Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.

We hope to see some of you tomorrow at 8:30 A.M. in the Commons!
