New Year's Pot Luck Celebration

We had a great Thursday in Room 203. We began the day by taking care of our morning activities and getting ready to perform. We made our way to the Commons and performed three songs for our audience of kindergarten families: "My Tooth Fell Out," "The Penguin Dance," and "Tony Chestnut." We did a wonderful job!  Afterwards, we celebrated the New Year with a breakfast celebration!  I hope that everyone that was able to attend had fun. We really appreciate your time and support! When we finished, we made our way back to 203 and read a book about penguins before going out for recess. Next we read "Tacky the Penguin" and had ELA Workshop. Students made their own penguins using construction paper and crayons independently while I pulled groups to write about Tacky. We also visited a secret center.

After lunch, we recited "Little Nut Tree" and had Star of the Week. Mr. Ricker shared some pictures and his favorite book, "Too Many Lollipops." In Music, Mrs. Hansen had the class work on meditation and mirroring. For Math we continued our topic of longer and shorter by comparing cubes and drawing cubes that were longer or shorter. In Spanish we had a substitute, so the class watched a video on Puerto Rico. To end the day we cut out our Tacky shirts and attached them to our penguins. They look cute!  We also got a little choose time before we reviewed homework, packed up, counted sticks, and lined up for home.

Be sure to finish and check homework packets for Friday!  Also, if you're interested in ordering books, send in order forms with payment tomorrow.
