The Letter N

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving week. We had a busy Monday back in Room 2. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. Then we took care of our morning activities. We also read "My 'N' Book" and came up with words that start with the letter "n." At language arts rotations, students worked on neat "N" handwriting and using crayons, glue, and noodles, to make the tactile page "Noodles on 'N's on a Nut." My groups took the chapter 4 math test and wrote in our kindergarten journals about Native Americans.  The other groups had their first secret center of this rotation. They include: Patterned candy cane art at the Art Center, playing games at PlanetBravo.com at the Computer Center, listening to "Clifford's Christmas" by Norman Bridwell at the Listening Center, more addition practice at the Math Center, and using blocks, cubes, and Magni-Tiles at the Play Center. After recess, we had math. We introduced chapter 5 on addition. We discussed what adding is, went over some new vocabulary words, and practiced some addition facts.

After lunch, we learned our sight words for the week, as well as our new poem "Little Nut Tree." Then we had art with Ms. Maria. The class worked some more on their Winter holiday projects. Students also got time for free draw with markers. After art, we spent a few minutes sharing about our holiday break. We also introduced Summer as our new Star of the Week. Summer shared her very cool poster and took questions from the class. At P.E., we worked on throwing a frisbee correctly and bouncing a ball to a friend. Separately, of course. To end the day, we learned about our new California Treasures theme of food. We talked about why its important and previewed some future topics. Then we packed up, passed out homework packets, and lined up for home.  Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework for the week. And continue work on those Ethnicity Doll projects, which are due next Tuesday, December 8.
