Geometric Shape "Blankets"

We had an exciting Thursday back in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. The we read CJ's favorite book "Mommy's Bed" and "L is for Lobster." At language arts rotations, students worked on "L" phonics and sentences. My groups read "We Like Sam!" and wrote a friendly letter to Christopher, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on taking apart 10. It went very fast!

After lunch, we reviewed letters, sounds, sight words, worked on syllables in words, and recited "Mary Had a Little Lamb." We also had math. We combined our themes of shapes in art and Native Americans by making geometric shape "blankets," similar to the blankets made by the Navajo tribe, Students used or made geometric shapes to design their "blanket." They look great!  Afterwards, we had an assembly. Dr. Oh introduced a tae kwon do team that demonstrated some of their amazing abilities. There were a lot of impressive formations, kicking, flips, and broken wooden boards. Ask about it at home!  To end the day, we had Star of the Week. Christopher shared some nice family pictures. Then we packed up for home. I also passed out our class pictures. Hopefully they made it home okay! A side note: If you need retakes, they will be held this Monday, November 16.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
