More with K and Kinder Kickball

We has a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "The Falling Leaves" and "K is for Kangaroo." At language arts rotations, students worked on "K" phonics and sentences. My groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about transportations. We named types of transportation and if they move through the air, land or water. We did a nice job!  The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on problem solving. We tried solving problems by the "act it out" strategy.

After lunch, we recited "Georgie Porgie," reviewed letters, sounds, worked on sounding out words, and counted syllables. We also finished up a lesson on the layers of the Earth by labeling crust, mantle, and core on a picture of the Earth. Next, we read "Fall Leaves, Fall" and made leaf rubbings. We put real leaves under paper and used crayon to color and make the "rubbing." We also  had some leaf plates that worked well, too. For Star of the Week, Charis read her favorite book:"Fancy Nancy: Every Day is Earth Day." She did an amazing job!  At P.E., Coach Angel had the class play kindergarten kickball. It's a great introduction to kickball for the class. Then Mrs. Singh read us two books at the library before we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
