Leaves

We had a nice Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning business. Then we read the book "Kangaroo Kazoo" and came up with more "K" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "k" phonics and sentences. My groups practiced good "K" handwriting and completed a writing assessment.  The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Georgie Porgie," did some rhyming, and had Tech Lab. Ms. Castro had the class review the different parts of the computer and desktop.

After lunch, we reviewed letters and sounds. We also read "Fall Leaves" and "Leaves." Then we took some of the leaves that students brought in an examined them with magnifying glasses. We looked at their color, size, shape, feel, and if they were a simple or compound leaf. Then we picked one leaf to draw, making sure to include the stem, midrib, blade, and vein.  For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Charis. Then Charis shared some toys. She had a pink bear, a Lego Friends set, some fancy pencils, and origami paper. I think she's going to show us how to use it later this week! To end the day, we had Reading Buddies. We looked at books with our friends from Room 19. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
