Necklaces

We had a fun Friday in Room 2. We began the day by collecting homework and having Nutrition. Then we took care of our morning activities and read "It's Thanksgiving Day!" At language arts rotations, students made Native American inspired necklaces by "sewing" colored macaroni in a pattern onto string. Hopefully they made it home safely! My groups read "I Am a Doctor" and wrote a friendly letter to Daniel, our Star of the Week. The other groups had the last secret center of this rotation.  After recess, we read "Brother Eagle, Sister Sky" and discussed what we learned about Native American culture. We also decorated a thunderbird picture. During this time there was also a fire drill. The class did a wonderful job lining up, following directions, and being patient as we checked in on the big yard and listened to Dr. Oh's announcements.

After lunch, we had Star of the Week. Daniel had us estimate gummies. The class made estimates between 7 and 99. There were 25 gummies. Jack made the best guess of 20. Then we had a popcorn party!  We enjoyed a cup of popcorn and watched a video on fire safety. Then we packed up our Friday Folders, gave prizes for students that earned twenty super star sticks, passed out certificates for an all-green week, and lined up for home. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Remember that we do not have school all of next week for Thanksgiving. We will see you back in Room 2 on November 30th. Be sure to start and work on those Ethnicity Doll projects while you visit with family. Projects (with writing) are due on Tuesday, December 8.
