The Letter S
We had a nice Tuesday back in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities, which include sorting lunches, taking attendance, the Pledge and BeyeLaws, updating our calendar, singing the alphabet song, vowel song, and our phonetic alphabet, and morning exercises. We read "My 'S' Book" and came up with words that start with the letter "S." We also used crayons, glue and string to make the tactile page "String on 'S's on a Star."After Road to Reading, we finished our tactile pages and had snack. We also read "My Tooth is Loose" and talked about teeth. We learned that the top of the tooth that you can see is called the crown and that the part in your gum you cannot see is called the root. We made a dot to dot picture of a tooth and labeled those parts. After recess, we read "S is for Snail" and had ELA Workshop. We worked on "S" handwriting and sentences independently while my groups read Sam and Mat book #2 and Time for Kids. We also visited a secret center.
After lunch, we learned our new sight words of the week, recited our new nursery rhyme "Simple Simon," and practiced some phonics skills. Then we had our run of Tuesday specials. We read part of a Chris Van Allsberg story with Mr. Withers and checked out a book in the library. We learned more about fruit and other foods in Spanish with Sra. Colmenero. And we got to try some cool gymnastics exercises, including the rope and rings, with Mr. Simatic at P.E. To end the day, we introduced Elise as our Star of the Week. She shared her awesome poster and took questions from the class. Then we packed up our new homework and lined up for home.
Be sure to check over homework folders. There is a field trip permission attached to the packet. Let's have a great week!
