Parts of a Tooth
We had a busy Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and HWT. We read "Seal's' Silly Sandwich" and brainstormed more "S" words. After Road to Reading, we read "Amazing People" and compared Abraham Lincoln and Sojourner Truth. We tried to find connections between them from our story. Pretty high level stuff, right? After snack and recess, we read "Hooray for Teeth!" and had ELA Workshop. We learned the parts of a tooth at my table and created art that showed the enamel, dentin, and pulp, as well as the crown and root. Independently, students worked on "S" phonics and sentences. We also visited another secret center.
After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Simple Simon," and had math. We looked at the topic of "Are there enough?" and matched objects using one to one correspondence. For Star of the Week, Elise shared some cute toys with the class, including Bella the puppy, a white and pink purse, a tiara, a Rubik's cube, and a spinning wand. The class liked them all! We ended the day with Second Step. We talked about managing disappointment and acted out scenarios where we could find ways to stop, name our feeling, calm down, and then find a solution. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
