The Chocolate Chip Ghost
We had a fun Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Instead of reading a book, I told the class a story called "The Chocolate Chip Ghost" using a felt board. At language arts rotations, students painted one side of their ghosts to match the colors in the story. Then they sequenced the events from first to fifth. My groups read "We Like Sam!" and wrote about pumpkins in our kindergarten journals. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we recited "Georgie Porgie," did some rhyming, and had math. We worked with a partner to use logical reasoning to find patterns and missing numbers. Most groups did very well!
After lunch, we did a fantastic rehearsal of our "Five Little Pumpkins" song. Then we read "Ghost-o-rama," a cool 3D book. Then we took out our ghosts from "The Chocolate Chip Ghost" project in the morning and cut them out, made faces on the back, and taped them to popsicle sticks to make puppets. They're fun! Most students got a chance to play with them, too. For Star of the Week, Sophia shared her favorite book, "Planes: Fire and Rescue." We had a short snack/recess time before having P.E. with Coach Angel. He had us practice kicking a soccer ball around cones and trying to get a goal in the net. To end the day, we went to the library. Mrs. Singh read us "Peek-A-Boo at the Zoo" and had us color a Halloween picture at the tables. It was fun to do something a little different! Then we went back to Room 2, packed up, reviewed our homework, and lined up for home.
