Transportation and Pumpkin Seeds
We had a fast Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with a secret password (we finished all the secret passletters) and Nutrition. Then we took care of our morning activities and read "Kangaroo Kazoo." At language arts rotations, students completed a "K" phonics page and wrote sentences on the back. My groups took the Topic 4 math test, practiced good "K" handwriting, and learned how to play "Boom!" The other groups had their final secret center of this rotation. After recess, we had Tech Lab. Mr. Scott had the class play some Halloween games on the computer, including "Pick a Pumpkin," "Jack-O-Lantern Creator," "Carve a Pumpkin," and a Halloween matching game. They were fun! When we got back to the room, we recited "Georgie Porgie," worked on sounding out words, did some oral blending, reviewed our five new Dolch Sight words for the week, and introduced our new Treasures theme of Transportation. We also read "The Bus for Us."
After lunch, we sang "Five Little Pumpkins" and read "From Seed to Pumpkin." For math, we worked on matching pumpkin seeds to the correct number. Then we glued six on by ourselves. We even got to taste some if we wanted! For Star of the Week, Sophia shared some nice toys. She had a doll named Rarity, a unicorn named Sparkle, and a fish named Dot. The class liked them a lot! To end the day, we had Reading Buddies with Room 19. Then we packed up our things and lined up for home.
