Welcome Back!

We had a nice day back after a long break in Room 2. We began the day by turning in our Friday Folders and by having Nutrition inside. We met our new student, Lois, and took care of our morning activities. Then we read "My 'Q' Book" and brainstormed some "q" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "Q" handwriting and sentences, along with using crayons, glue, and Q-Tips to make the tactile page "Q-Tips on 'Q's on a Quilt." My groups wrote about what they did during Winter Break. The other groups has secret centers. After recess, we had math. We introduced Chapter 6 on subtraction. We reviewed what we know, learned some vocabulary words, and then practiced some subtraction. It went pretty well!

After lunch, we learned our sight words for the week and introduced our new poem, "Jack Be Nimble." Be sure to practice it at home this week!  Next, we had Art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. We started work on some Valentine's Day projects. We also had free draw with markers. For Star of the Week, we introduced Dominic. He shared his awesome poster and took questions from the class. At P.E., we worked on different movements: walking, hopping, and more. Plus we had some free recess on the kindergarten yard. To end the day, we introduced our new California Treasures theme of "Animals." We recited some poems, talked about where wee find animals, and read "Mama Cat and Her Three Kittens." We ended the lesson by writing and drawing our favorite animal. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over the homework for the week. It is due on Friday.
