The Shape of Me

We had a good Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day, as usual, with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Animal Snackers" and "Q is for Quail." At language arts rotations, students worked on "Q" phonics and sentences. My groups read the first "Sam and Mat" book called "I Am Sam" and worked on a New Year's Resolution mobile. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on using objects to subtract.

After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Jack Be Nimble," and had art. We continued our unit on Shape by examining "The Shape of Me." We used free form shapes to make a picture of ourselves. We used pencil first, then colored in with oil pastels, then finished with watercolors for the background. They look great! For Star of the Week, Dominic shared his favorite book, "Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom!"  At P.E., Coach Angel had the class play "Balloon Balance." It's a game where two students try to move a balloon without using their hands. It looked like a lot of fun!  We ended the day listening to two stories from Mrs. Singh in the library. Then we packed up, put up our chairs, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
