Animals and Soccer Skills

We had a good Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Seal's Silly Sandwich" and came up with more "S" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "s" phonics and sentences. My groups read "I See the Truck Go" and wrote in our kindergarten journals about baby animals. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We wrapped up chapter 6 on subtraction with some review of vocabulary and concepts.

After lunch, we looked for Zero Heroes, reviewed sight words, letter sounds, and recited "Simple Simon." We also had science. We watched a video on animal behavior and then learned about two more animal groups: amphibians and insects. Then students copied two sentences and gave examples of each animal group. For Star of the Week, Jack shared his favorite book: "Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?" At P.E. Coach Angel had the class practice their soccer skills by kicking a ball toward a net goal. We did a pretty good job! To end the day, Mrs. Singh read the class two books in the library: "Oops!" and "Dog-Zilla."  Then we put up our chairs, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
