More With the Letter S

We had an interesting, but ultimately pleasant Tuesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "Animal Babies ABC" and "S is for Snail." At language arts rotations, students worked on "S" phonics and sentences. My groups read "I See the Truck Go" and wrote in our kindergarten journals. We wrote sentences naming an animal and then the name of its baby. For example: "A baby dog is called a puppy." The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Ms. Castro read us a story and then had the class illustrate their own endings using Wixie.com. The pictures looked cool!  We also learned how to save a file on the computer.  When we got back to Room 2, we reviewed sight words and recited "Simple Simon."

After lunch, we shared some items that students brought in, including some books and a 100 day mobile. Then we edited two sentences together on the board. We are trying to look more closely at writing to make sure that we capitalize and use proper punctuation. Next, we reviewed initial, middle, and ending word sounds. Finally, we drew some pictures for Mr. Ricker!  For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we know about Jack. Then Jack shared some toys: a dino-bot, some night binoculars, and a Bruce Lee toy he got from China. The class liked them a lot. Jack even gave everyone a piece of chocolate before we went home. Thanks Jack!  To end the day, we were supposed to have Reading Buddies. Unfortunately, they never showed up. So we did a Mad Libs together and read with a class buddy instead. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home.
