Music With Mr. B

We had an excellent Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and a fast version of our morning activities. Then each student wrote a friendly letter to Jack, our Star of the Week. We didn't have our regular rotations and centers today because we started Music this morning. We visited our Music teacher, Mr. B, in Room 32. The class did a lot of things:made sounds, sang songs with a piano accompaniment, moved around, used rhythm sticks and shakers, and got to use a xylophone and play a drum.  It was a great first lesson! We look forward to seeing Mr. B every Thursday for the next several weeks.  After recess, we had math. We introduced chapter 7 on composing and decomposing numbers 11-19. We went over key vocabulary and reviewed what we know. It will be a short chapter.

After lunch, we edited some sentences, reviewed sight words, and recited "Simple Simon." We also had art. We're starting a new unit on color. We reviewed the colors that we know, looked at a Henri Matisse painting, and then made pictures that followed the theme of "A Garden of Colors." We used pencil and oil pastels to make a garden full of colorful flowers. Then we used watercolors to fill in the sky and ground. They look nice!  After P.E. on the kindergarten yard, we read a book on animal babies and discussed our theme of "Animals." We also had Kaia and Victoire share their 100 Day book projects because they finished them early. Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!
