The Letter B

We had a good Monday back in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition outside and our morning activities. Then we read "My 'B' Book" and brainstormed words that start with the letter "B." At language arts rotations, students made the tactile page "Beans on 'B's on a Balloon" using crayons, glue, and black beans. They look cool!  My groups read our take home book "I" and worked on correct "B" handwriting. The other groups had secret centers. Oh, we also had parent volunteers for the first time this year during this time. A big "thank you" to Ethan's mom and Jack's mom! After recess, we had math. We worked on the concept of less than. We compared objects and used counters to find groups with less.

After lunch, we celebrated the tenth day of kindergarten by searching for "Zero Heroes." The class found them all! Then we started our new California Treasures theme of families. We looked at our big book, recited some rhymes, and talked about families.  We discussed who is in our family and what we like to do together. We made a picture to go with it. For P.E., we played "Red Light, Green Light" in Dermody Court and had some free play. When we came back in, we colored, cut, and taped some shape puppets. We will bring them home on Thursday. Let's have a great week!

Remember to look over homework packets for the week. Note that we do not have school on Friday, so homework is due on Thursday. We also have the Labor Day holiday on Monday, so it will be a four day weekend.
