Color Experiment

We had a busy day in Room 2. We began Wednesday with Nutrition and our morning activities. Then we read "A is for Alligator" and "Harold and the Purple Crayon." At language arts rotations, students worked on "A" phonics by identifying pictures that start with "A" and pasting them in the correct row. My group reviewed "Harold and the Purple Crayon" and drew a picture of our favorite part. Students also dictated (in their own words) what happened. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we had math. We worked on the number zero and identifying numbers from 0-5.

After lunch, we read "Color Dance" and continued our color experiment from yesterday. Only today we used paint instead of color paddles. (If you haven't sent in a smock, please do so soon!) Students filled in circles with primary colored tempera paint and mixed it to find the secondary colors of orange, purple, and green. It wasn't too messy since we only used our fingers. We will continue to review the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue throughout the year.  We had a short recess on the big yard next, but were happy to return to the air conditioned cool of Room 2. We ended the day by reciting "Ring Around the Rosies" and completing a color match. Then we put up our chairs (a new Wednesday routine), reviewed our homework, and lined up for home!
