Stoplights

We had a good Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition outside, followed by our morning activities. We also read the book "I Love School." Next, we had language arts rotations. During this time, we break into smaller groups. One group works with the teacher, one group works at "secret centers," and two groups work in a group on a project. Today my groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about ourselves. The "secret centers" were to use books, blocks, or puzzles. And our independent group work was to find objects that were the same or different. We will continue to follow this routine each day, expanding the centers and activities as we go along. After recess, we had math. We started our new math series by learning about the numbers 1, 2, and 3.

After lunch, we read "Boomer Goes to School." We also discussed stoplights: their colors and what each color means. We learned a "stoplight" poem and then made our own cutout stoplight art. During this time, we also made handprints using white paint. They look cool!  After some circle time, we went out to the big yard for an afternoon recess. We ended the day by reviewing our class rules and coloring our Friday Folders, which will go home tomorrow. Then we packed up, sang "Wake Up Toes," and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish, check over, and return homework packets and purple folders tomorrow!
