The Letter Z
We had a nice Monday in Room 203. We spent our morning reading "Z is for Zebra" and using crayons, glue, and Cheerios to make "Zeroes on 'Z's on a Zero." For Reader's Workshop, we looked at poetry. After an indoor recess, we reviewed our new sight words (about, bus, let, eat, ride), recited our new poem ("This Little Piggy"), read "My 'X, Y, Z' Book," brainstormed "Z" words, and practiced "Z" handwriting and sentences.
After lunch, we had some addition practice in math. We did very well on our facts up to 5! We will try some subtraction tomorrow. In Science, we started making a mini-plant booklet. It tells what a plant needs to live. We also planted some seeds in soil. We will give them water, sun, and air (CO2) and hope that they grow! For Star of the Week, we introduced Owen. He shared his awesome poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in Spanish and P.E. Then we packed up our new homework packets, passed out prizes for twenty super star sticks, and lined up for home.
Let's have a great week!
