The Letter L
We had a nice Monday back in Room 203. After finding our new desk seats, we spent our morning learning about the letter "L." We read "My 'L' Book," brainstormed some "L" words, and used crayons, glue, and licorice to make the tactile page "Licorice on 'L's on a Lollipop." We had Reader's Workshop, where we focused on our "picture power" to help us read. We also read "Round is a Tortilla" for read aloud and had new Road to Reading groups. We started having snack inside (part of our winter plan) before going out for recess. When we got back, we wrote in our kindergarten journals. We made "I see..." sentences using shape words to finish the sentence.
After lunch, we recited our new poem ("Mary Had a Little Lamb), learned our new sight words (grass, rain, school, chair, in), read "Bee-Bim Bop," and played "Mr. Ricker Says." For math, we reviewed numbers and shapes before we looked at our solid shapes. We placed each using positional words like above, below, in front of, and behind. Next, we introduced Ben P. as our Star of the Week. He shared his cool poster and took questions from the class. Then we went to the Computer Lab to play some LexiaCore5 games. We ended the day with Spanish and P.E. Then we packed up, reviewed our homework packet, and lined up for home.
Let's have a great week!
