The Wh Digraph
We had an orange-y day in Room 203. We began the day by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities. In our A to Z Countdown, it was "O is for Orange" day, so we drew a picture of something orange. Then we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had us wrap up some projects and pack up a bunch of art from the year. Hopefully a big roll of items made it home! When we got back, we worked on our digraph of the week, "wh." We read "A Whistle for Willie" and used crayons, glue, and wagon wheel pasta to make the tactile page "Wheels on 'Wh' on a Whistle." They look nice! After snack and recess, we went to the auditorium to rehearse the "Thee Piggy Opera." It was our best practice yet! We hope to see everyone on Wednesday night! We ended the morning with "wh" handwriting and sentences, plus sharing about our weekend.
After lunch, we learned our last five sight words of the year and practiced the poem "Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?" We also had math. We played "Hide One" and solved subtraction story problems with cubes before trying some more on our own. To celebrate "O is for Orange" day, we went outside to peel and eat an orange. (We also got a little recess!) For Star of the Week, we introduced Yahkid. He shared his awesome poster and took questions from the class. We ended the day in the Computer Lab. We played some LexiaCore5 learning games. Then we packed up, passed out homework, and lined up for home.
Don't forget that the Three Piggy Opera is Wednesday! Also, turn in field trip permission slips ASAP if you haven't already. Lastly, keep working on those Animal Research Reports. They're due on Wednesday, May 31st.
Let's have a great week!
