A Day Without Mr. Ricker

We had a day without Mr. Ricker on Wednesday. Ms. J was our substitute while  I was assessing incoming kindergarten students in the office. The class only got a few glimpses of me during the day, so I hope all went well. Our plans for the morning included our morning activities and Star of the Week. Rocco told me he shared "Where the Sidewalk Ends" with the class. Next, we had our last Road to Reading for the year. Most everyone was finishing assessments or playing LexiaCore5 games on an iPad. We read a farm story and had ELA Workshop after that. Ms. J's groups matched farm animals to the sounds they make. At independent tables, students found "th" words and wrote "th" sentences. We also visited a secret center. After snack and recess, we hopefully had time to read Time for Kids together and play with some Lego. It was "L is for Lego" in our A to Z Countdown, after all.

After lunch, we were going to review sight words and "Bedtime" before having math. We worked on decomposing 9 and 10 and making number bonds. To end the day, we had Second Step with Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z. We talked more about staying safe at home and at school. Then we packed up and lined up for home. I hope you had a good day. See you tomorrow!
