The Rainbow Fish
We had a full Thursday in Room 203. We began the day with our morning activities and by reading "Fidgety Fish.". In our A to Z Countdown, it was "C is for Cubs or Sox Day," so we drew a picture of our favorite sport or team. For Star of the Week, Pinero shared some nice photographs with the class. We went to the Computer Lab, but it was busy with classes testing, so we came back and had Writer's Workshop. We shared our best "How-To" writing with the each other. After snack, we read "The Rainbow Fish" and started a Rainbow Fish project. We decorated a fish shape, then added paper "scales" to make it look like the Rainbow Fish. We even added a shiny scale. They look cute! We will cut them out and hang them up tomorrow. After recess, we had ELA Workshop. My groups wrote a friendly letter to Pinero, our Star of the Week. At independent tables, students finished their Rainbow Fish and used the iPad to play LexiaCore5 games when they were done. We also visited our last secret center of this rotation. They will change next week.
After lunch, we reviewed sight words, recited "Wee Willie Winkie," and shared some "How-To" stories we hadn't gotten to in the morning. In Music, we practiced the Three Piggy Opera with Mrs. Hanson. We will rehearse in the auditorium next week! For math, we decomposed 8 and wrote number bonds and subtraction sentences that match. In Spanish, Sra. Colmenero was back to teach us about Cinco de Mayo. To end the day, we finished up some loose ends and had a little choose time. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, counted sticks, and lined up for home.
Be sure to finish and check over homework packets for Friday!
