The Letter H and Halloween!
We had a happy Halloween in in Room 203! We began our Monday by collecting Friday Folders and taking care of our morning activities, which included sorting lunches, the Pledge and Beye Laws, updating our calendar, the alphabet song, vowel song, our phonetic alphabet, morning exercises and more. Next, we introduced our letter of the week and used crayons and heart stickers to make the tactile page "Hearts on 'H's on a Heart." Next we went to see Mrs. Hanson for Music. She was nice enough to reschedule us this morning since were going to miss our regular afternoon lesson. Today, we sang "Five Little Pumpkins" and play Halloween freeze dance. When we got back, we read "My 'H' Book," brainstormed some "h" words, and worked on neat and correct 'H's. After snack and recess, we went to Art. Ms. Sundquist had the class cut out the lines we made last week, plus make a Halloween picture with construction paper crayons. Next, we read "Ghostarama" and had Reading Buddies. From now on, we will meet and have activities with a fifth grade buddy. Mrs. Fogg's fifth graders will talk, help, and play with us as we learn throughout the year. It should be great!
After lunch, we got ready for the Halloween parade and party. The class walked with our new fifth grade buddies for a few blocks before returning back to Room 203 and our class party. We had games (like "Hot Pumpkin") crafts (Sew a spider web, decorate a pumpkin), and food (donuts, pretzels, fruit, juice). We also got goody bags to go home. We had a lot of fun! We'd like to thank Charlotte's mom and Gavin's mom for planning our Halloween party. We'd also like to thank the parents that came to help out: Addison's mom, Ascencion's mom, Charlotte's mom, Gavin's mom, Marin's dad, Quinn's mom, Rocco's mom and dad, and Zach's mom. Thanks you so much!
We did pack up homework folders before we left, so look for them in your child's backpack. Also, try to remember to bring library books tomorrow. Thanks! Have a safe Halloween!
