Not Quite a Field Trip

We had a disappointing Wednesday in Room 203. We began the day thinking we were going on our field trip to the pumpkin patch. We gathered our lunches, took care of our morning activities, and even made a picture and labeled it with the sentence "I can go to the pumpkin patch!" Unfortunately because of the weather, we got word from the farm that we needed to cancel and reschedule our trip. After the initial sadness, we decided to have a good day. We checked in the Computer Lab and saw that it was open, so we went there and played LexiaCore5 learning games. Then we had a snack (provided by Mr. Ricker) and recess. It started raining at and felt very windy and cold, so when we came in we felt better about staying home. We read "Inside a House That is Haunted" and "G is for Giraffe" and had ELA Workshop. Students made Halloween bats while I pulled groups to work to identify "G" words and pictures.

After lunch, we sang the vowel song and "Apples and Bananas," recited "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary," and practiced phonics skills. For math, we worked on finding the missing number. As an extra bonus, we also tried to figure out if that missing number was odd or even. To end the day, we had Second Step with Ms. J.C. and Mrs. Z. We reviewed more feelings and talked about good skills to stay safe on Halloween. Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and went over what we need tomorrow. Since our pumpkin patch field trip was rescheduled for Thursday, please prepare your child tomorrow like you did today. Thanks!

Be sure that your child dresses for the weather, had good walking shoes or boots, and brings a sack lunch with drink tomorrow. Let's hope that Thursday ends up being a great day!
