The Letter V

We had a busy Monday back in Room 2. We began the day collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition inside because of the fog. After morning activities, we read "My 'V' Book" and brainstormed several "V" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on proper "V" handwriting and using crayons, glue, and vinyl to make the tactile page "Vinyl on 'V's on a Vest." My groups read Sam and Mat books 1 and 2 together. We also worked on writing the numbers to 100. The other groups had their last secret center of this rotation. After recess, we learned our new poem, "There Was a Crooked Man," introduced our sight words for the week, and had math. We read a book on pennies, discussed its value, and what is on the front and back of a penny. Students then used a real penny to help them identify pictures of pennies.

After lunch, we read "The Sweetest Valentine" and worked on some holiday art. It will go home later in the week. Then we introduced Hudson as our Star of the Week. He shared his cool poster and took questions and comments from the class. After  P.E. out on the big yard, we came back to finish up our projects and tie up some loose ends. We also cleaned up, got our homework packets, and passed out class t-shirts for our field trip. Be sure to put your child's name on the designated space on the sleeve!  Let's have a great week!

Be sure to look over homework. I've included a class list should you want to give Valentine cards this week. You don't have to label cards or treat, but be sure to have enough for all 25 students. And for our field trip, be sure to wear the class shirt, good walking shoes, and bring a lunch with drink for the day. Chaperones have a note attached to the homework with more information about our day.
