A Garden of Colors
We had a very calm and smooth Thursday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and morning activities, as usual. Then we read "Lucky Duck" and came up with some more "Short U" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "short u" words and sentences. My groups read "Can Nan?" and wrote a friendly letter to Jacob, our Star of the Week. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Little Boy Blue" and had math. We reviewed Topic 9 by composing and decomposing number to 10. We also shared Amelia's 100 Day book since she had been absent all week.
After lunch, we shared Alexander's Lego book and Baeman's book on penguins. Then we started a secret Valentine project. For Star of the Week, Jacob showed us some cool pictures from his family album. At P.E., I checked the hula hooping skills of the last two groups while the rest of the class played with jump ropes and bouncy balls on the big yard. When we got back we had art. We used what we've earned about colors to draw "a garden of colors." First, we used pencil to draw our scene. Second, we used oil pastels to add color. Finally, we used watercolors to fill in the background. They look nice! After we cleaned up, we packed up, and lined up for home.
Don't forget to finish up homework and check it over for neatness for Friday! Also, be sure to return all permission slips and money for the field trip by tomorrow, if you haven't already.
