Weather Windows

We had another productive day in Room 2 as we approach Open House next Thursday. After taking care of morning business, we read a Lego story called "The Secret" that Quinn brought in to school. For language arts rotations, we wrote letters to Quinn, our Star of the Week. Most students even found time to trace their edited letters in marker for the first time. My groups finished up some Open House writing. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "Come to the Window" and had math. We used red and yellow counters to make a real graph.

After lunch, we read a book on tornadoes and practiced some sight words before language mixing with Mr. Duffy's class. My group wrote about their favorite kind of weather. Then they finished the  picture we made yesterday by adding drapes and dividers to make it look like a window. Star of the Week was next. Quinn shared several very nice family photographs. Then we had P.E. on the kindergarten yard. When we came in we had science. We reviewed the five senses. Then we read a book on hearing and had a listening experiment. Students used a listening device made of cups, string, paper clips, and a hangar to find out how sound travels. We also learned how we hear and how we can make sounds louder and softer. It was fun!  Then we packed up and lined up for home.

Don't forget to finish and check over homework packets for tomorrow!  Also, please return the Scholastic book orders, if you're interested.
