Weather and Cup Stacking!

Another busy Wednesday in Room 2. We began our day with morning business. Then we read "A Cloudy Day" and "Z is for Zebra." For language arts rotations, we worked on a "Z" phonics page and sentences with "Z" words. My groups read "We Can!" and wrote about our favorite game in our journals. The other groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we recited "This Little Piggy" and had math. We talked about comparing capacity. Students learned that objects that hold more tend to be taller and wider, while objects that hold less are shorter and thinner.

After lunch, the class read a story about our Treasures theme of Weather.  Since I was in a meeting, Miss Diana and Miss Esther helped the class make a weather project where they colored, cut, and ordered the different types of weather. Miss Esther also read Mia's favorite book "Miss Smith Under the Ocean." When I got back, we had Star of the Week. Mia shared another toy ( a larger heart-shaped slinky) and had us read "Dog Loves Drawing." At P.E., Coach Angel had the class work on cup stacking for the Walk-a-Thon next Friday. The wind made it a bit challenging, but otherwise we did a pretty good job. At the library, Mr. K read the class "The Three Bears." When we got back to class, we packed up, reviewed our homework, and headed for home!
