The Letter J and Bats!
Monday began with a lot of energy in Room 2. We updated our calendar and took care of our morning business before we read "My J Book." During language arts rotations, we did the tactile page "Jewels on Js on a Jellybean." My groups took the Topic 4 test in math and practiced "J" handwriting, while the other two groups had secret centers. After snack and recess, we had math. We worked on building, counting, reading, and writing the numbers 11 and 12.
After lunch, we practiced our new poem, "Diddle, Diddle, Dumpling." We also did some rhyming and initial letter sound recognition activities. I read the book "Stellaluna" and then the class made their own colorful Halloween bat. Then we introduced our new Star of the Week, Abbie. She shared her poster and took questions and comments from the class. We went to the big yard for P.E. and worked on dribbling a bouncy ball. Then we had a race! To end the day, Miss Diana read "Clifford's Leaf Pile" and had students color a picture with a partner, while I did some one on one quarterly testing. Then we passed out our new homework packets and lined up for home.
Two notes about the week. One, we are studying leaves this week and next, so please try to find and bring in a few leaves. Second, please look over the PTA Reflections information sheet to see if you'd like your child to participate. It's optional. Projects are due by November 22nd.
