Friday Art and a Popcorn Party
We had an energetic and fun Friday. The day began by collecting homework and our morning business. Language arts rotations included a "long i" phonics pages, writing a letter to our Star of the Week (me), and secret centers. After snack and recess, we practiced the poem "Little Jack Horner" before reviewing math Topic 4. We will test next week. We then introduced math Topic 5 on Numbers to 20 and played a number game with a partner.
After lunch, we had art with Ms. Maria and Miss Karla. They had students use a mirror to look at themselves and then draw a self portrait with permanent markers. They look good! We also had some time to free draw. We had an estimation for Star of the Week. I brought in colored popsicle sticks to estimate. Samara actually guessed the correct answer...77! We went out to the big yard for P.E. and then ended the day with a well-earned popcorn party. We watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." We now have some more help in the afternoon, too. Miss Diana, who also helps at lunch and recess, will be in our class at the end of most days. We're happy to have her be a part of the class! To end the day, she read a book about pumpkins before we passed out green certificates and lined up for home. Have a great weekend!
