The Letter S

We had a good day back in Room 2. Our Tuesday began by collecting Friday Folders and having Nutrition outside. After our morning activities, we read "My 'S' Book" and brainstormed "S" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on proper "S" handwriting and sentences. They also used crayons, glue, and string to make the tactile page "String on 'S's on a Star." Inspired by Dr. King, my groups wrote in our kindergarten journals about our hopes and dreams. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we went to the Tech Lab. Mr. C was there for Mr. Scott again. He had the class use Wixie to draw and ending for a story he told. Students also got a little computer free time. When we got back to Room 2, we learned our new poem "Simple Simon," sounded out words, practiced our sight words, and reviewed vowel sounds.

After  lunch, Stella shared her 100 Day booklet and we had math. We started Topic 9 by making 4 and 5 in different ways. We used counters to help us find combinations. Then we introduced our new Star of the Week, Kaia. She shared her cool poster and took questions and comments from the class. To end the day, we had Reading Buddies. We looked at books with our friends from Room 19. Then we put up our chairs, passed out homework, and lined up for home. Let's have great week!

Be sure to look over homework packets for the week. We have notes and permission slips for an upcoming field trip and January book orders attached to our regular packet. See me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
