Happy Birthday Moon

We had a busy Friday in Room 2. Things started early because of the rain, so we had Nutrition and looked at books to begin the day. After collecting homework, we took care of the calendar and our other morning activities. We introduced bears as a topic a couple of days ago, so I read a book about a bear called "Happy Birthday Moon" to the class. At language arts rotations, students cut and pasted a picture from the story and wrote sentences about what happened. My groups read "Sit Tip!" and wrote a friendly letter to Jayden, our Star of the Week. After indoor recess, we recited "Polly, Put the Kettle On," did some rhyming, reviewed our sight words, and shared Nathan's and Aaron's 100 Day books.

After lunch, we got a little recess on the kindergarten yard. Then we went to Music. We met Mrs. Phiri, out teacher. She went over the rules and had students learn about ta, beat, and sing some songs. The class did a really good job!  When we got back to the room, we had Star of the Week. Jayden had us estimate big chocolate chips. There were 77 big chocolate chips. Dashiell made the closest guess of 80. We earned a popcorn party, so we watched "The Magic School Bus: Wet All Over" and ate a cup of popcorn. We were interrupted by a fire drill, which was then followed by the PTA Reflections award ceremony. It was a long assembly, but it was nice to see Dashiell, Kayla, Lila, and Stella get acknowledged for their entries. We packed up after it was over and watched the very end of the video before passing out certificates for an all green week, and lining up for home.  Have a great weekend!
