Dancing Raisins

We had a busy Wednesday in Room 2. We began the day with Nutrition and morning activities. Then we read "Seal's Silly Sandwich" and came up with more "S" words. At language arts rotations, students worked on "S" phonics and sentences. My groups wrote in our journals about things we dream about. The other groups had secret centers. After recess, we recited "Simple Simon," did some rhyming, and had math. We worked on writing addition sentences to show 4 and 5.

After lunch, Lila shared her 100 Day book and we had science. We did an experiment called "Dancing Raisins." We dropped raisins into regular water and carbonated water and then observed and recorded what happened. Students noticed that the raisins in regular water just sank, while the ones in soda water went down, then bubbled and rose to the top over and over again! We figured that the air in the bubbles helped them to rise and then the bubbles popping at the top made them drop.  For Star of the Week, we reviewed what we learned about Kaia. Then Kaia read the class her favorite book, "The Little Red Hen." We went out to the big yard for P.E. where Coach Angel had us play a game called "Evasion." It was a fun relay race where students ran to retrieve balls for their team.  To end the day, we went to the library. Mrs. Singh read us three books: "Jumping Day," "Tiny's Bath", and "Sam the Garbage Hound." Then we packed up, reviewed homework, and lined up for home!
